The 2027 Lexus ES all-electric luxury sedan is expected to enter the US market in September with slightly higher prices than the 2026 model year. The specs remain unchanged, as it’s a carryover model year.

2027 Lexus ES

The all-electric 2027 Lexus ES offers two powertrain versions: the 350e and 500e, both of which are available in two trims named Premium and Luxury. Additionally, there is a 350h hybrid cousin.

The 350e utilizes a 167-kW electric motor located in the front. The 500e version includes an additional 88-kW electric motor in the rear to provide all-wheel drive. The combined system output in the 500e exceeds 250 kW. Both electric motors are permanent-magnet synchronous motors.

Battery and Range

The 2027 Lexus ES features a 74.7-kWh battery with a nominal voltage of 391 volts. This battery is also found in multiple other Lexus, Toyota, and Subaru EVs. According to the manufacturer, the EPA-estimated range for the ES model ranges from 272 to 307 miles, depending on the version and wheel size. These numbers are the same as in the outgoing 2026 model year.

The highest range of 307 miles comes from the base Lexus ES 350e with the default 19-inch wheels. Switching to optional 21-inch wheels reduces range by 5% to 292 miles. The all-wheel-drive Lexus ES 500e with 19-inch wheels is rated for 276 miles.

That is a substantial drop of 31 miles, or 10%, compared to the single-motor version. On the other hand, the optional 21-inch wheels do not significantly reduce range, with a rating of 272 miles.

Energy Consumption

Lexus released EPA-estimated energy consumption ratings for the 2027 model year. They match those of the outgoing 2026 model year. The base Lexus ES 350e with 19-inch wheels averages 127 MPGe, or roughly 3.8 miles/kWh (265 Wh/mile), including charging losses. The 21-inch wheels reduce that by about 5% to 121 MPGe (3.6 miles/kWh).

The all-wheel-drive Lexus ES 500e with 19-inch wheels gets 114 MPGe, or roughly 3.4 miles/kWh (296 Wh/mile), including charging losses. The second motor not only reduces range by about 10%, but also increases energy consumption by over 11%. The Lexus ES 500e with 21-inch wheels is the least efficient at 112 MPGe.

Charging

The 2027 Lexus ES features a NACS (SAE J3400) charging inlet for AC and DC charging. The model can directly access NACS charging points (AC or DC), including Superchargers. Lexus EVs gained access to the Tesla Supercharging network in November 2025.

Access to CCS1 DC fast chargers is possible through a CCS1-to-NACS adapter. Similarly, the car can use SAE J1772 AC charging points with an AC adapter (J1772-to-NACS). Both adapters come standard with the car.

The charging port is located on the front-right (passenger’s side). This should help with DC fast charging at Tesla V3 Supercharging dispensers (the ones with short charging cables). On the other hand, it might not be the most convenient location when parking in tight garages.

The ES features an 11-kW onboard charger, which is expected to recharge the battery from 10% to 100% state of charge in 7 hours. An 11.5 kW (up to 48 amps at 240 volts) home charging station, installed on a 60-amp circuit, is enough to fully utilize the onboard charger’s power. The car comes standard with a dual-voltage (120- and 240-volt) AC charging cable.

The 2027 Lexus ES can recharge from 10% to 80% state of charge in around 28 minutes. During this time, the car can add roughly 190-215 miles of EPA range, depending on the version. The peak charging power is 150 kW. We estimate that the average charging power in the 10-80% SOC window should exceed 110 kW. Assuming a driving range of 307 miles, the Lexus ES 350e can replenish roughly 215 miles.

Prices

In the 2027 model year, the Lexus ES prices increased slightly. All versions have a $110 higher MSRP, and additionally, the mandatory destination fee increased by $100 to $1,395. The base 2027 Lexus ES Premium FWD starts at an MSRP of $47,610 ($49,005 including mandatory $1,395 destination fee). The dual-motor ES 500e costs $3,000 more than the corresponding FWD trims.
