Ride1Up Unveils New and Improved Portola 02 Folding E-Bike
Ride1Up has released an updated version of its popular Portola folding e-bike, featuring a new pedal-assist system, redesigned frame and cargo setup, and a choice between two battery sizes.
The Portola has been a standout e-bike in the market, offering a compact folding design, useful cargo capability, and affordable pricing. Ride1Up has now released the second-generation Portola 02, which builds on the success of the original.
The new Portola 02 features Ride1Up's Intui-Drive system, which combines torque and cadence sensing to provide a more refined and natural feeling when pedaling. This upgrade gives the bike a more responsive and intuitive power delivery, especially when starting from a stop or modulating effort at lower speeds.
The frame and rear cargo setup have also been redesigned. The Portola 02 can be had with a heavy-duty removable rear rack, and two frame configurations are available, allowing riders to choose between a welded-on rack or a cleaner, lighter setup.

Other welcome tech upgrades include a new large color display, an updated battery management system, and built-in Find My tracking. The bike also retains its 20×3″ wheels and tires, which provide a good compromise between off-road capability and agility.
The Portola 02 is available in four colors: Bronze, Gray, White, and Blue. Ride1Up has traditionally kept its color palette understated, and while the new colors look good, they may not appeal to riders who prefer brighter and more fun colors.
