Hyundai Unveils Redesigned Tucson with Bold New Design
The all-new Hyundai Tucson boasts a wide, boxy stance and a range of innovative design features.

The Hyundai Tucson has undergone a significant transformation with the introduction of its fifth-generation model. The new design is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the fourth-generation Tucson, which was launched six years ago.
Meet the New Hyundai Tucson
The new Tucson has grown up and now resembles a traditional SUV, with a wide, boxy stance. This bold new look is based on Hyundai's "Art of Steel" design philosophy, which is also seen in the off-road Boulder Concept from the New York Auto Show earlier this year.
The front of the vehicle features new vertical "H-edge" daytime running lights and a slim horizontal light bar. Hyundai has stated that the lights in the bar are not directly exposed on the outside, contributing to the bold, three-dimensional look.
Innovative Design Features
The rear of the Tucson boasts a prism rear lamp with a three-dimensional protruding lens structure. When illuminated, the lamp is revealed, adding "visual three-dimensionality." The new design also includes a range of innovative features, such as a floating structure to open up space and a large center infotainment screen.
Interior and Exterior Dimensions
The new Tucson measures 4,700 mm (185″) long, 1,905 mm (75″) wide, and 1,685 mm (66″) high, with a 2,785 mm (110″) wheelbase. Compared to the current model, the new Tucson is 60 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and has a 40 mm longer wheelbase.
| Dimension | Current Model | New Tucson |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 4,650 mm (183″) | 4,700 mm (185″) |
| Width | 1,865 mm (73″) | 1,905 mm (75″) |
| Height | 1,645 mm (65″) | 1,685 mm (66″) |
| Wheelbase | 2,745 mm (108″) | 2,785 mm (110″) |
Interior and Exterior Options
The new Tucson will be available with Hyundai's XRT trim, which adds to the rugged, off-road design. The XRT trim includes exclusive design elements such as an exclusive front grille, wheels, and skid plates, black wheel arch garnishes, and XRT badging. Inside, the Tucson XRT features exclusive patterned seats, dark metal decor, and protective floor mats for the first and second rows.
Powertrain Details
Hyundai has yet to reveal powertrain details for the new Tucson, but it is expected to be sold as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid, not pure electric. While the Tucson likely won't be offered with a fully electric powertrain, Hyundai still offers the IONIQ 5, which is about the same size.
