Range Tests: Eli Electric Vehicles will unveil the ZERO MX, a new L7e-class microcar, at EICMA in November

Eli Electric Vehicles announces the ZERO MX as a new L7e microcar with higher speed capabilities than the existing L6e model. The company is preparing to reveal this new version of its electric microcar at the EICMA show in Milan this November.

The familiar European Eli ZERO is an L6e light quadricycle. It has a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph). This original two-seat urban runabout has limited utility on faster roads. The new ZERO MX moves into the L7e class. This classification typically allows for higher speeds, expanding the vehicle's potential use cases.

Performance and practicality upgrades

Eli's Italian website lists an L7e ZERO capable of 85 km/h (53 mph). It also claims a potential range of up to 200 km (124 miles). While these specifications are not officially confirmed for the ZERO MX, they indicate the performance bracket for the new model.

A faster L7e microcar could be far more practical for daily commuting. It retains a small footprint but gains the ability to handle suburban roads and faster urban lanes. The ZERO MX is expected to expand the utility of the microcar significantly. It could serve as a better alternative to bikes for urban or second vehicle use.

The reveal is scheduled for EICMA, which runs from November 3 to 8. The vehicle will be on display in Hall 22, Stand B40.

Unconfirmed specifications and related models

Eli's teaser does not provide confirmed specifications for the ZERO MX. It only indicates it will be an L7e vehicle. It remains unconfirmed whether the 85 km/h speed and 200 km range apply directly to this model.

The teaser also presents a Race Edition separately from the ZERO MX. Artwork suggests a second-generation ZERO with possible sportier design elements. These may include race seats and alternative doors.

It is unclear whether Race means extra performance or is mainly a styling package. The relationship between the Race Edition and the ZERO MX is not confirmed. They may be related as part of a second-generation ZERO lineup.

The EICMA reveal in Hall 22, Stand B40 will provide the first official look at the ZERO MX and its specifications.
