Scout Traveler SUV Concepts Preview Rugged Luxury
Scout Motors reveals rugged and luxurious concept versions of its upcoming Traveler electric SUV, with customer deliveries planned to begin in 2028.

Scout Motors has revealed two new concept versions of its debut electric vehicle, the Traveler SUV. The company states customer deliveries will begin in 2028, with initial production starting next year.
According to the automaker, these concepts are designed to show the dual nature of the electric Traveler. The two vehicles, named the Mountainside and the trail-ready concept, will debut at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience festival.
The Luxurious Mountainside Concept
The Scout Traveler Mountainside concept is described as a warm and refined interpretation of the SUV. It features a Morning Dusk paint finish, characterized as a deep charcoal-brown with gold metallic flakes. The concept rides on 22-inch dish wheels.
Inside, the cabin combines light brown leather with gray fabric and recycled walnut wood trim. The wood trim has an intricate texture that resembles cork from a distance. Scout presents this variant as a luxurious model with a snow cabin aesthetic.
The Rugged Trail-Ready Concept
In contrast, the trail-ready concept adopts a more aggressive, off-road focused design. Its exterior is finished in a Galvanized Steel paint meant to resemble bare metal, with a roof in a contrasting color called Canvas.
This variant is equipped with full-metal front and rear bumpers, an elevated roof rack featuring trail lights, and an integrated front winch. It rolls on 18-inch black beadlock wheels wrapped in 35-inch off-road tires. The interior uses a Denim District design with brick-red leather accents.
Production Plans and Powertrain
Scout confirms that initial production of the Traveler SUV is scheduled to begin next year. The company plans to lead with the extended-range Harvester trim due to what it calls outsized demand compared to the standard EV variant.
This range-extended model pairs a four-cylinder generator with a 63-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery pack. Scout claims this configuration should deliver 500 miles of total range.
It remains unclear if the specific features shown on these concepts will be sold as packages or individual options when the Traveler goes on sale. The source report from InsideEVs speculates that options like the beadlock wheels and roof rack would be popular.
The Traveler SUV aims to straddle the line between luxury and rugged capability, competing in a space occupied by brands like Land Rover, Lexus, and Rivian. Scout's dual-concept reveal is its latest step toward bringing the electric SUV to market.
